In a natural state, a horse grazes constantly, chewing for many hours a day and producing gallons of acid-buffering saliva that keeps their stomach healthy. The modern horse often has limited access to pasture and hay; they are fed large grain meals and often lead busy, stressful lives. This can result in less chewing time and reduced saliva production, both of which leave the horse prone to gastric health issues.

Horses maintained under certain management conditions are at an increased risk of developing an unbalanced stomach environment. Horses that are unable to graze continually due to busy training and competition schedules, those on restricted diets or those consuming high starch diets, and horses that are confined for any reason also risk developing imbalances. In these cases, supplementation with Neigh-Lox helps support a well-balanced, normal stomach environment.

Research shows that even seemingly minor changes in a horse’s routine, such as relocation from one pasture to another or a weekend outing, can set a horse up for gastric health issues. Supplementing with Neigh-Lox during times of change or stress helps maintain a healthy stomach.

Serving and Storage

Neigh-Lox serving instructions:

1 scoop = 2 oz

Weanlings (6-12 months): Add 1 scoop (2 oz) to each grain meal. Do not exceed a total daily intake of 4 scoops (8 oz).

Yearlings (12-24 months): Add 2 scoops (4 oz) to each grain meal. Do not exceed a total daily intake of 8 scoops (16 oz).

Mature Horses: Add 2 scoops (4 oz) to each grain meal. Do not exceed a total daily intake of 8 scoops (16 oz).

Storage and shelf life:

Store Neigh-Lox in a cool, dry place and keep the lid tightly closed between uses. Shelf life is 18 months from the date of manufacture when stored under suitable conditions.
